Awareness leadership is the art of cultivating and leading with awareness, compassion and wisdom. Join Tibetan Buddhist meditation teacher Venerable Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, affective neuroscience pioneer Professor Richard Davidson, psychologist and author of the international bestseller
Emotional Intelligence Dr Daniel Goleman (via live stream) and world-renowned martial artist Mr Jet Li for a two-day workshop to explore the intersection of mind, science and leadership. At the workshop, we will present the benefits of training our powerful minds and explore how meditation practices naturally complement effective leadership in our working lives.
Ancient spiritual traditions and modern science both teach that our minds can be trained so that we become more aware of our circumstances, less reactive to stress, more compassionate, and better equipped to approach challenging issues in a calm and thoughtful manner. With training, we discover our innate ability to navigate life’s uncertainties with confidence, and learn to transform problems into opportunities for beneficial growth.
Over the two days, Mingyur Rinpoche will introduce the concept of “awareness” and how it is linked to effective leadership and wisdom management, and guide us through some simple meditation exercises to recognise awareness, a natural quality of our minds; Prof Davidson will speak about the important scientific finding of neuroplasticity, that is, the brain’s immense potential to be “rewired”, and how and why meditation works to unleash that potential for our benefit; and Dr Goleman will show how our emotional intelligence and awareness can work together to create a powerful leadership model.
In addition, three local speakers, each a leader in their field, will share how awareness and meditation practices have helped them to become an outstanding leader and meet life’s challenges. Mr Andrew Fung, BBS, JP, chief financial officer of Henderson Land Development Co Ltd, will talk about how awareness leadership complements corporate management; Dr Rosalie Lo, a senior clinical psychologist at Hospital Authority, will speak about awareness, meditation and mindfulness training in the context of stress and trauma management; and Green Monday co-founder and Mind Reset Institute founder Mr David Yeung will explore the link between awareness and creativity and innovative entrepreneurship.
This workshop is open to all who wish to explore their minds, and will be especially helpful for those in leadership positions.
This is a ticketed event presented by Tergar Asia Foundation, a registered charity. All proceeds, minus the costs of organisation, will go towards funding Tergar Asia’s vision of supporting communities across the region in learning to live with awareness, compassion and wisdom.
